No business meeting this month. We were far too busy with the Softbench project. Abi, who is based at the Northampton Fish Market, came to take photos to take back to Trevor the artist. She was pleased to meet us and explain a bit more about the project. Janet had brought some Hebridean fleeces for us to spin and despite the fact that we found the fleece wasn’t ideal to spin in the grease without carding (short staple and little crimp) it was beautifully soft and by the end of the day we had a reasonable number of skeins ready for the knitters. A meeting is being held on 17 October in Northampton to hand over balls of wool to the knitters who are being coordinated by Abi. She had been amazed by the number of people who were volunteering to take part and thanked us for our help.

We had another superb lunch with far more food than we could eat. We staggered away from the table and straight back to the wheels for more spinning.

Next Meeting: 7th November 2009, Stoke Albany Village Hall, 10am-4.pm. Subject is Drum Carding. Janet will be taking us through what she learnt at the Woolfest workshop. Coffee and tea provided. Please bring a plate for Shared Lunch.
