  • Wow, didn’t we have a special day. We spent the morning setting out our wares and had an extraordinary display of members’ work. We then had our usual brilliant shared lunch which somehow seemed even better this month and then we were thrilled to welcome 17 guests to our Celebration of Spinning from as far afield as the USA and from the Bradford and Derby Guilds together with others from Northants, Leicestershire and Hertfordshire. Added to our members who travelled from Cheshire, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire and Northants and Bedford, we felt we had quite an “international” gathering and certainly achieved our aim of spreading the word about longdraw spinning!
  • I think without exception everyone enjoyed the talk and slide show given by Val and David Bryant on the development of the spinning wheel through the ages. Their joint knowledge about spinning wheels is amazing and their obvious passion for their subject kept us all spellbound. We were certainly left wanting more and honoured to have Val amongst our members.
  • The afternoon passed far too quickly and ended with afternoon tea and Pam’s delicious scones with jam and cream. The Hall had been almost full to capacity and the buzz was incredible.
  • Next meeting:Saturday 6 December – Christmas ideas / sale of work. Shared lunch.
